The Hemp Shack opened it’s doors on the first day of Spring in 1995 when the word “Hemp” was greatly misunderstood. It was a time when, with the likes of people like Dennis Peron and Jack Herer, we worked to educate the masses about legalizing Prop. 215.
When California’s Compassionate Use Act took effect, codified as CA HS 11362.5 it was an opportunity to teach and to learn with the community not only about the many virtues of the cannabis hemp plant, but also about the miraculously healing qualities it has. When we started we were selling only a small number of hemp items, like backpacks, wallets and t-shirts. Much has changed in the past 18 yrs. Hemp Shack Dave sells his hand blown glass, I make most of the jewelery we have for sale, but we also sell education books, clothing, stickers and more……We had big dreams when we first opened and we still do, and one of them is to have most of our store online, with most items ready to ship.
